No, no, it's Warhammer elves. We're down with those, I think. Most of them don't really care about trees, iirc. Too busy killing people.

Killing people while riding on dragons, no less. Warhammer elves are fine and dandy.

While joking with family, I accidentally invented an incredible idea for a feel-good made-for-TV Christmas movie that middle-aged mothers watch on network channels.

I am loathe to share details because holy shit I could actually make this

My toddler brother is in the hospital for what the doctor thinks is a hernia. He is currently having an ultrasound done "down there". I didn't even realize that those were a problem for little kids, but I guess there isn't really any reason for it not to be.

Not sure if this belongs in the wtf or terrified thread.

Had this weird rash last night. Well, sort of a rash at least. Like blotches of skin were elevated and really red. It also felt much warmer than the surrounding skin. It didn't itch or hurt or anything, though. It went from the middle of middle of my torso to about my knees in a stripe on each my left and right side, and also a bit on the inside of my arms. The weirdest part was that it seemed to pop up within a few minutes, and I could visibly see it spreading once I noticed it. It was around midnight, so going to the doctor wasn't really an option, and would also be expensive if it was. So I went to sleep and hoped for the best. I woke up and it was pretty much all gone, though some slightly red spots have persisted throughout the day.

I have no idea what it was, but it seems to have corrected itself, at least for the moment. A doctor visit now would most likely be a fruitless, expensive endeavor. I tried looking it up online before I went to bed, to make sure it wasn't anything super serious, but the symptoms and appearance were too vague to get anything meaningful from it. I don't think I came into contact with anything that would trigger an allergic reaction. I don't even know if I have allergies of any kind.

Does anyone have any sort of idea what this might have been?

Sounds like an allergic reaction of some kind. Come across any new fabrics/materials/animals/etc recently?

They must think injustice absurd; above all, they must think it startling. They must retain the violence of a virgin astonishment. When the pessimist looks at any infamy, it is to him, after all, only a repetition of the infamy of existence. But the optimist sees injustice as something discordant and unexpected, and it stings him into action.

-snip-

I have a ring of red flesh on my upper thigh about the size of the end segment of my pinky finger, in a somewhat sensitive area. I THINK it's just from rubbing against my pants, but I'm not sure. I also think it could be ringworm or something, but I was under the impression that stuff itched and spread, and this does neither.

Losing weight I realised that one thing I didn't think I'd miss so much is the feeling of being really full.

To the extent that one of the things I most want to do lately is just eat a whole large pizza.

You could try bulking up. A lot of people don't like it, but it's so much faster to get in shape than aerobics or cardio (so you don't have to run 2 hours every day to make up for that extra slice). And the extra muscle will eventually burn the fat even faster. Just don't buy a machine with crappy plastic pulleys.

Then again, I'm not the best person to be preaching.

Whatever the cause, it's histamine building up there. The most common reason would be an allergic reaction, or some bacteria getting your immune system all panicky. If it's winter over where you live, maybe it's your skin being dry and getting small cracks, so some airborne bacteria or fungi get in there.

I take anti-histamines every day. Might that have something to do with it?

Might, actually. Many things in human body react to things that block them with a sudden surge as the drug wears off - that is how physiological withdrawal works.

I THINK I've head that too. It's really weird. Hardly ever happens, but has happened like, 3 times in the span of 6 years or so. I'd get some sort of weird red rash that seemed a little higher than the rest of my body and it'd spread really quickly, then, the next morning, it'd be gone. No idea what it was. Almost certain that it's not an allergic reaction, mainly because there's nothing special I did.
