Looks like that abominable version of Cyrodiil is being sucked back into the Warp where it belongs.

It wasn't the warp in the west, it was CHIM!

As for why it was CHIM, well:

Quote
If you [Michael Kirkbride] could change anything in the series, what would it be and why?

I would change Cyrodiil's depiction in Oblivion. While I finally ended up enjoying the game several years after its release, neither the tech or the development of Cyrod was capable of pulling off what the Empire really deserved.

Now, a bit more seriously, I did get a ceramic knife recently, it's good at cutting. So good that I'm starting to wonder how does it work, since, y'know, it's probably undetectable. So what, will TSA now start demanding you strip naked then burn all your personal belongings to prevent one being carried onboard?

The TSA is really just a show. HomeSec tests them all the time, and has gotten pretty much everything that they are supposed to be stopping past them. Don't quote me, but I think they haven't managed to stop a HomeSec test even once.

Remember that 50% of the USA believes that violence is the answer when asked.

You are never going to find a country that isn't "obsessed with violence".

That really depends on your definition of when a person is "obsessed with violence". If your definition is "occasionally enjoys a show that happens to include someone getting hurt", then yes, most countries are "obsessed with violence", although this definition doesn't really relate to its name anymore. If your definition is something like "believes that violence is the answer" or "approves of the use of violence as a countermeasure to things that are not inherently violent", then you'll find that fuck no, that's a rare and extremist viewpoint, and by far most people in western Europe aren't "obsessed with violence"; the USA just so happens to have a lot of extremists.

Yeah, I'd be curious to know what question was being asked to get that answer.

Because it could be something fairly reasonable, like 'Should police use deadly force when being attacked by an armed criminal'. Or something ridiculous, like 'What is your favorite flavor of Coffee? VIOLENCE!!!'.

Polls on stuff like that are quite often biased and incapable of provide an accurate view of what people actually think.

Can I please live in your world?

Because... frankly I prefer it to the real one XD

Quote
Yeah, I'd be curious to know what question was being asked to get that answer

It is actually a very basic answer. If someone insults your family and won't get out of your face, should you punch them?

Sometimes do you just have to fight for your own dignity?

it is actually not as "Rare and extreme" as it seems. Heck often what is told about violence isn't that "it isn't deserved" but rather that "It cannot be controlled".

Quote

I like to put it another way.

The Polls are usually accurate, the conclusions are biased.

When MegmaMcFry pictured the question "Is violence warented in a non-violent situation" he pictured it in the most extreme way possible.

To admit, I intentionally left that open to misinterpretation, mostly because it proves the point.

Quote
If your definition is "occasionally enjoys a show that happens to include someone getting hurt", then yes, most countries are "obsessed with violence", although this definition doesn't really relate to its name anymore

Likewise this is interpreting what I said in the weakest possible form. "Occasionally"? how about constantly.

We are constantly thinking about, watching, acting in, and preparing for violence.

We watch more violence in our daily lives than the Romans did (no really).

Quote
the USA just so happens to have a lot of extremists

Yeah the USA isn't as "Backwards" as it would seem if you honestly look at countries with impartial eyes. They are not an extreme violent culture.

Another interesting job interview.

It's fun when the people interviewing you can't really describe the responsibilities of the open position.

It is probably because for a lot of them, they don't have straight forward responsibilities and basically boil down to "do what boss tells you"

There is also fact that some companies simply don't have a dedicated Human Resources department, and just grab whoever is available to be your interviewer, regardless as to whether they know about the job or not.

There are also people whose sole job is to conduct interviews, have little experience with the job itself, and are basically reading off a questionnaire.

Plus there are a few interviewing "techniques" that require you to not talk about the job at all.

The new youtube comments now allow direct linking to other sites.

In other news, I got rickrolled by clicking a link to said video that was disguised as the "expand this comment" link. Clever girl.

In other other news, Youtube spambots could now just spam direct links to their spam instead of www(dot)SPAMHERE(dot)com or whatever they've been doing. Scientific progress!

There have already been significant issues with folks linking to screamers, extreme porn, and malware. Links in Youtube comments are pretty much a no-go zone at the moment, unfortunately.

Heard a weird loud noise in my laundry closet.  Heard more noises as I got up to look for it.  Armed myself in case it was a rodent or rogue skeleton or something whatever the fuck.

Turns out it was nothing, but I'm still suspiciously eying the dark corners of my apartment, armed with a bathrobe and fire poker.  When did I become an eighty year old man?

When you stopped being a seventy nine year old man.

Every one of us has a paranoid eighty year old man inside of us. He's always there, waiting, watching. All it takes is a single moment of irrational suspicious and he erupts from your subconscious like a mental chestburster.

So, is CHIM universal enough to also explain bugs in Fallout 3?  :P

CHIM don't even explain the bugs in Oblivion :P
