About a month ago I had a job interview with a company for some inventory clerk position. It was fairly data entry intensive, with some import/export stuff. Nothing I couldn't handle based on my job experience. The only person I met with was the woman who would have been my direct supervisor. The interview went very well, but I didn't get the job.
About a week ago I get an email from them saying that they changed their mind and wanted me to come in for a second interview, which I had earlier today.
I get to their office about fifteen minutes early. It's a small building. I don't want to go in that early, so I'm walking up and down the street it's on because I'm not too familiar with the area and I want to kill some time before I go in. I'm not standing around on their small property there.
About 10 minutes prior to my scheduled appointment, a man (John) intercepts me and says he is working for that company and was told to wait outside the building for me. Curious. He escorts me inside.
I have a brief conversation with the supervisor I spoke with last time. No problems so far.
Then the president of the company joins us. I'm thinking this is just going to be a short greeting and formality with him. We talk. He asks me about what my career goals are. A few minutes later he asks me the same question again. He asks me for the phone numbers for my two previous bosses because he wants to speak with them personally. Apparently they don't have anyone in HR and the president of the company has nothing better to do. He says he needs to know his employees better than his own neighbors. He doesn't like that I was previously employed by a large manufacturing company because he runs a small, "family" company. He asks me if I can handle the workload, several times. Remember, this job is largely data entry and I've done similar and more difficult work in the past. Eventually I walked out of the interview because he was just too intimidating and weird. The supervisor was in there with both of us the whole time and didn't say a word.
Creeped out a little bit here.
