Ok sex sells is going WAAAAAY too overboard for videogame adds on the net.
Dear goodness I saw a woman with flashing growing breasts where the implication was that I was going to "feed her" which unless I am going to feed her, her own endowment then... well... This thread isn't rated high enough for me to say.
And this wasn't from any illicit site either.

Also seriously the oversized breasts thing REALLY needs to stop. Now the "Super sized boobies is funny" Joke, that was always so transparent that they just wanted a woman with super sized breasts, is getting a bit rampant now.
It was always stupid and not sexy and not funny.
Now I am not saying that breasts cannot come in many shapes and sizes or "Women with large breasts should be shunned because women cannot look sexy and should be put on a pedestal so they can be protected like the small fragile birdies they are"... but that isn't really the case in this situation.

Also I am also kind of STUNNED at how gender politics has kind of changed and evolved over time. I watched a movie that basically said that pornography, as in all and any, is disrespectful towards women.
Yet oddly enough since the movie was made that sort of idea has started to become toned down. Which I can ONLY guess, not watching porn myself (which always gets me a "yeah right" but whatever), is because the idea that "women can watch porn" is a thing now.
It actually made that scene in the movie where the guy was harassed because he was disrespecting women by owning it, sort of odd and almost outdated in general secularized thinking... Based purely on my observation of media and conversation.

Ugh, how am I supposed to pick up on social norms and conventions if they keep changing on me?
It has lead me to the conclusion that anything offensive, is offensive because of subjective reasons. Or rather what is offensive is only offensive in that period of time and subject to change.
But at the same time the REAL cause of that, beyond people evolving and learning things as they go which is probably the major cause (after all we don't think Single men are icky anymore), is very possibly just politics.

And yet this entire subject always goes back to a lecture I had about the history of motherhood. Where the lecturer's basic idea was that modern motherhood was an attempt by "The vague and all powerful collection of men" to put women back into the home by putting undue requirements onto them and guilt them if they do not do this.
Which ignoring the "Men's fault" that I think is always the lazy default (Women's lives do not revolve around men... At least "I" believe they can come up with ideas and opinions of their own that aren't created to try to appease men. That and "I" am a man, and I do not consult other men on the best way to keep women down, nor do I know anyone, even actual sexists, who do... making it seem more like a boogeyman statement), it was an actual interesting topic that has some grain of truth.
Not so much that I honestly think there was an antagonistic force behind it... but that it is possible many of the conventions of modern child rearing could be holdouts from a bygone era reinforced by a sort of "return to basics" after women were suddenly starting to amass in the work force / political spectrum.
But I need to reread my notes.

Which actually brings me to just the sort of idea of the vague quasi-all powerful mass of men that never sat right with me.
Since the idea is that women are so disadvantaged that everything they are, all their thoughts, and all their opinions are formed entirely by men. The clothes they like to wear they like only because men like it. The fact that women dress up for other women is because "They are competing with other men". If a woman is trying to better herself she is "trying to be a man".
Which the reason I never liked this line of thinking, beyond the fact that it demonizes me for existing but I am also a first world white male so frankly I am already a half-demon, is that it puts women at such a overwhelming disadvantage that... It makes caring about it pointless.
But how could I explain it...
In this fictional setting there was this slave race that was biologically created long ago. They care and serve for their masters and honestly think of themselves as servants and as below their masters. You want them to dig themselves out of that and become people in their own right with their own interests that don't revolve around servitude, but at the same time you understand that it isn't possible because their very being is indentured servitude. Heck the Lesson of the House Elves in Harry Potter was that Hermione needed to learn that they are not human beings and that "servitude" is a genuine need and desire for them to have, and that what they really needed to do is ensure that they can do without the harsh treatment or abuse many of their kind receive.
So for women in the situation of such overwhelming disadvantage, it hits the same problem. If a woman revolves so entirely around men... How could you change it? Any change would only be there to serve men. It would just be giving women another role and new standards. There needs to be some part of a woman that is her own, a part of society that isn't "man's" in order for that to work. Even if you would say that you are "giving autonomy" like you are letting a prisoner out of a prison. Yet when there is no prison then the prison is the person.

I also don't like talking about these topics mostly because... I don't do what most people do and go "Well, I 'know' this is wrong and that is all I need to know"... I go "Ok, I am pretty sure this is wrong... but Why is it wrong?" mostly because well... Every evil is something people thought was right at one point.
So this means that I have to try to understand complex subjects and do so in ways that are considered outright insulting. Especially if I am in the middle of a conclusion.

Ok WTF over.
