I almost did that once. But then i just happened to notice the tiny warning that basically said to only use rechargeable batteries. They really should put a larger warning on it.

No batteries I've ever had say non-rechargeable. But I'm a cheap bastard so that may be why.

Generally, if the batteries do not say "Rechargeable", you should assume that they are not.

Sorry, the remains of the battery have been disposed of.
And the charger itself seem to be completely fine.. no corrosion damage or anything..
However I am kind of reluctant to test if it's still working..

My old battery charger specifically said putting non-rechargeable batteries into it could make them explode. Some things science was just never meant to test.

Half an hour ago, an AA battery exploded from the charger.
Me and my brother have just finished cleaning up the remains and whatever residue we found.
The explosion itself sounded like.. a large snap.

Note to self: Use RECHARGABLE batteries next time.

That reminded me of how, about a week ago, a jug of wine that was sitting on the kitchen counter one night just spontaneously exploded. I have no what caused it, though it was some of my father's homemade gooseberry wine in an old jug, so I don't think this sort of thing is likely to happen with other containers.

I'm a magnet for static electricity myself so I can relate well with thine concerns. I always make sure to take proper precautions when preparing to work on my computer so that I don't end up destroying my precious program-running device.
