Because a game/story where every hostile creature could be gunned down without any real danger would be incredibly boring? Unless you're the sort of person who would have enjoyed slaughtering buffalo en masse from a train.
But that's so fun!
I'm thinking a game can/should be made from this.

Let me know if you figure it out.  I don't think you can.

There is now only one man born in the NINETEENTH century left alive. He's being taken care of by his grandson's widow.

I read somewhere that from considering the rapid medical advances we're making, scientists have determined that the first person to live to the age of 200 has already been born.

I guess I now have a goal in life.

You can't determine that through science. It is probably a safe bet, however.

EDIT: come to think of it, will this mean that you have an extended period where your body's age is in the twenties, thirties etc., or does it mean that you'll age at the same rate, and will be a really shriveled old man/woman?
Well you know, there is supposedly that age-delaying/reversing thing they've tested in mice. By the time we get older, it might be a reality!

EDIT: I was just struck by the image of a incredibly racist 200 yr old 200 years from now.

I know I'm a page late, but I still wanted to mention this.

“Maxim 11:
Everything is air-droppable at least once.

-The Seventy Maxims of Maximally Effective Mercenaries”

http://www.goodreads.com/quotes/495067-maxim-11-everything-is-air-droppable-at-least-once--the-seventy
I've never heard of any of those.  They sound like good advice thou.
Here's the whole current list of them.

I know, comically missing the point is oftentimes not funny.
The thing is, you missed it. It was blatantly obvious what you were saying.
Goddammit, humor is so hard to convey in text.

Yeah, I believe they've found a reliable way to double a mouse's lifespan.  Pretty exciting.
