What's your theory? They triggered another one of those named traps. Really, they should have known better. Adorable blunders.

Who else is a spellcaster that Roy could kill? Specifically, I'm talking about Varsuuvius. Why isn't she distraught?

Er, it looks like they're just standing around, not doing anything (anything includes killing people).

Yeah, I jsut looked at it again. They've been ensnared by the runes and the last panel shows us that; I though that they were hypnotized and that 'Xykon' was actually V.

Symbol of Insanity, possibly? In that comic, it's well known for causing teamkilling.

Not really, it looks like they're in a Lotus Eater thing, as everyone here's suggested. See:

Purplish glow in panels/runes glow the same shade
Their eyes are swirly purple and they're all standing there drooling

Seems quite enough like Roy's fantasy to see Xykon remember his name, die and for Belkar to die too all in one comic segment.

Because O-Chul and Vaarsuvius both told him that Redcloak got stabbed in the eye. Just not which one. And the Order has almost no understanding of Redcloak's power level, such as whether or not he can cast 7th level clerical spells like Regeneration.

Wouldn't O-Chul have observed Redcloak and taken note of his power? He certainly did with Xykon.

Other than that, yeah. The only people to have seen Redcloak cast 9th-Level spells was the Azure City resistance... as they were being hit with them.

Also, if you look in the scenes after Roy kills Xykon, he has his sword out, but in the last panel, it's on his back.

Even if Roy suspected Redcloak had the ability to cast 7th level spells (which honestly I believe he should've) it would still not be unthinkable for RC to not have cast it and in the middle of battle he's probably not going to ask why a goblin decided to stick with his new pirate fashion unless they have time for combanter.

The point is that the last they heard of him, he had lost an eye. That is the current mental image and thus what the illusion creates.
