They're open at different amounts. As I understand that most people's stay the same. I think there's a name for this but I can't remember it.

I used to get a creepy feeling from the upstairs hallway that overlooked the living room when I was at my parent's house.  At the same time as I got this creepy feeling, I would often notice my cat following something along that hallway with her eyes.
