Honestly if there is one thing I liked about Neopets it is that they actually had a few decently fun minigames here and there, even if they were often impossibly hard or stupid.

The problem is that a lot of other things were broken to the point where it REALLY could be made into a case study of how to do a MMORPG wrong but still rake people in.

One of the major differences between Neopets and every other MMO I've played (even if this is browser based) is that I didn't leave this disliking the game. I still liked it, I just kind of moved on. Which given I could write an essay on how it is in reality "a bad game" says something.

I think it was just its charm... I really liked my Neopets.

I used to have the cutest yellow Aisha plushie. But I lost it some day. ;_;

Also, I think the biggest turn-off was the insane inflation, and their frankly rediculous boards policing. You could get banned for mentioning knife or gun. Same with killing or wounding.

Inflation, the fact that buying items was a herculean task, the weird battle system (When I found out that a lot of items actually lack quality), and not to mention that often you were a bit TOO hands off with your pets (Honestly check some of the features never added to the game... it almost makes Neopets seem like an entirely different game)

Though I am probably the one who joined Neopets earliest here... back when Bruce was a talkshow host.
