I have returned. As you can probably guess, the mission was a complete failure. Before I could release the initial spores I was assaulted by a disturbingly familiar seeming short and hairy man.

The odd thing is that I do not recall getting back into the time machine, nor can I actually find it, for that matter. After he punched me out I woke up back in the now. I also must report that I feel....different, somehow, as if a part of me is no longer with me. It's probably nothing, and more importantly we need a new time machine before the next attempt. And face-shields, definitely need face-shields next time.

One minor point made there is actually valid: Having race be a factor in who you date is either racist or shallow. I mean, I can understand seeing some racial traits to be more physically attractive to someone than others, but then they're choosing dates by rather insignificant visual traits (hence, being shallow).

Well, the point of dating is finding a sexual viable partner (I know this is not necessarily the outcome or intent of all relationships, but that is the idea behind it), and you have to be attracted to your partner. If a certain race doesn't attract you then that's that. You can't really argue with who you wanna date. (See, Homosexuality totally isn't a choice)

No it isn't, or at least is not necessarily shallow.

It isn't shallow to pursue people you are attracted to and not pursue people you are not attracted to in the general sense, unless you have a specific checklist of features that are required/forbidden before you can allow yourself to be attracted to someone.

To make a relationship work where that basic attraction isn't there requires other traits that compensate for it. And I can't think of any such trait that you would be able to identify without having known that particular person for years.

It's strange. Theoretically, I don't see myself being attracted to another race, despite having a number of friends who aren't white. In practice, I've had a number of crushes on African Americans and Latinas.

I'm not sure what it proves, but I think it's a lot more complicated than they're making it out to be.

This. I don't generally find myself thinking about women of other races (not that I'm racist, mind you, I just haven't really considered it because 90% white people around where I live.) but I've dated a Latina girl and I'm sure I wouldn't NOT date someone because of race.

So I'm watching what I internally term a "train wreck series", and as it turns out the plot has been deliberately constructed to prolong UST and prevent relationships within the cast from going anywhere. That, and it's trite, cliched, and utterly predictable. But I can't look away.

To be fair, there was a TTGL reference, the fanservice road runs both ways, and it doesn't pretend to be anything other than silly and cliched.


Then the OP has the truly... remarkable line, "And I'll come for you over and over and over again."

Picking up some stuff from my old Kroger for my mom. God, it was a weird experience. I've never felt so simultaneously familiar and unfamiliar with the place.

I used to go there all the time in high school, but it was just to get stuff like candy and soda. In the last year I've started buying groceries for real, so I go in and expect to know this place really well but I realize that I don't know where any of the stuff I usually buy nowadays would be.

Honestly, the best is when all of a sudden it just surprises you and does something genuinly good.

Mind you it will ruin it rather quickly (Dang it Vanguard! Do your writers even know what they have written?) but it can surprise you.
