That's kind of obvious to anyone who has lived in 3 dimensional space their entire life, but how do you prove it with maths?

That would be because whenever you comb something your positioning it from one place to another right? Hair doesn't permently bend without heat so the ends would never loop back around. Uh.......


Let's try again. Combing hair lays it from A to B, when you lift the comb it pulls the hair along with it for a way until it pulls away. I'm sure you could make a hairy ball flat if you dampened the hair, or if you applied heat causing the hair to bend back on itself into a loop. I think I might just be confusing myself here..

Once more (and I've read the article more closely). It won't comb flat because it's a sphere and the hair is being combed along the surface of the sphere. The same thing could be seen to happen with a cylinder if you combed only from left to right on any surface, the hair would overhang the lip of the cylinder end.


Apply static electricity and you make the hair all stand out on end. THERE SOLVED.

As for the Hairy Ball theorum the way to solve it is easy. Weave the hair

BOOM! I solved it. A way to comb a ball without getting cowlicks. Just interlace the hair.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. That makes it not the best metaphor, but doesn't really apply to the actual problem at hand (which is about non-crossing vectors, after all)
