Also, a unrelated thing for me: Shoes. Let's talk about shoes for a second. Forrest Gump said you could tell a lot about a person by their shoes. Let's look at my shoes for a second.

These are what I wear, when I'm not wearing motorcycle boots.  I wear socks with them.  I don't know what wearing socks with sandals is supposed to say about a person, but I know it tends to generate reactions of extreme hatred.  If Paranormal Activity is any indication, it also means I'm a tool of the devil.  My feet just aren't comfortable without socks!

As for being stealthy... my co-workers often joke about how I'm a ninja.  I think it's more comparable to Malkavian obfuscation or something than stealth.  As one example:  I have on multiple occasions had people at work sitting right next to me ask why I wasn't there that day, after I'd been talking to them only a few minutes earlier.

Also poison ivy and brambles and stuff. I guess there's some people who have a persistent ironskin cast on their feet at birth or something but some of us are less lucky and live in a goddamn swamp. A swamp full of drunk people that like throwing beer bottles around and leaving shattered glass all over the place, because the local flora and flesh-hungering fauna needed help or something to bring ruin to your precious feetsies.

Though I guess you can toughen them up or something. I kinda' find that the cost of shoes is an acceptable one versus likely having to have glass shards and parasites surgically removed a few times before the feet callus/scar enough to have enough toughness to stop getting holes poked in it and homes excavated from it.

Which is kinda' a shame. I'd sorta' like to go barefoot if it didn't entail so much stepping on stuff that probably needs to be dug out and/or disinfected before bringing the feet into the homeplace

No offense dude. But like every post I've seen from you makes you just seem terrified of everything. Seriously dude.

As one of those four people I mentioned I can safely say I don't have any of those problems. The only trouble I have ever had is asphalt in the summer. Since whoa. And this is with an often humid environment with the usual occasional glass and things you wanna avoid. Guess what? You avoid them. I wouldn't wanna walk through that stuff with shoes on either.

Heh, the only time I wear shoes is when there's more than two inches of snow, or when the mud is too deep. Never had foot worms, either.
