We do cheese fries in the northern midwest of the us. Instead of cheese curds, we get cheddar cheese sauce. Lots of it. Also, we 86 the gravy. Gravy is only for mashed potatoes, not fries.

One might consider chili to be a type of gravy for sufficiently abstract definitions of gravy. In that case we do have poutine in America in the form of chili cheese fries.

Chili cheese fries are the greatest thing known to man.

I can assure you that cheesy chips are humanity's worst creation.

A) What kind of chips are you talking about? Like, British chips? We call those "fries" or even "wedges" in 'MURRICA. B) Cheese is a multiplier. Something is okay? Add cheese. It becomes pretty good. Something is awesome? Add cheese. It becomes OMFGWTFBBQ incredible.

BLASPHEMY! Cheese and potatoes of any form are delicious! The potatoes of any form, i mean, not necessarily the type of cheese.

And yes, cheese is a multiplier. This is why a dish containing mostly cheese is sub-par, but a dish with a middling to small amount of cheese is spectacular. But then again, there are the few dishes which fall under the cheese exception rule.

I think I just invented cheese mathematics.
