People are starting to "sir" me more and more often, including one of my floormates. Feels weird, man. Now all I need is for someone to tell their child to "leave the nice man alone" in reference to me and I'll feel old.

I get used as a threat to children all the time.
'Tommy! Stop that now or the man will take your games away' *Points at me* *Child attempts to kill me with a stare*

In those situations I'd just say something like "She's lying, don't believe her!"

Hopefully this will force her into better parenting techniques that don't hinge on lying.

Ah, but nearly all parenting methods hinge on lying. Kids are good at negotiaion as they know they have nothing to lose.

You could, you know, actually take away their stuff from them if they behave really badly. Or ban TV. Etc.

I suppose lying to your kids may be acceptable when you're saying something like "Eat your peas or the boogie monster will get you!"

Don't bring me into this because I'm the nearest person to you on the bus and your child is picking it's nose, please. XD

One of the dirtiest tricks for manipulating kids:  give them choices.

Tell a kid they have to do something they don't want to do, and they'll oppose it in every way possible.
Tell a kid they have a choice between two things they don't want to do, and they'll simply pick one with little fuss.

I found this tactic by observing politics.  It took my older one about two years to develop any resistance to it, but only because I over-abused it in hopes that he would.

I know plenty of women who are 5'3'', but as I recall, what they did was state that the armor adds a foot. Which is still stupid, the armor is clearly not that large. I think the director wanted to make her a "proper" height or something absurd like that.

I mean that people in the future are generally portrayed as "taller", thanks to the way average heights have been increasing in the past hundred years or so thanks to better nutrition and health care (according to some studies, may or may not be true).

5'3" sounds like a fairly improper height for action-heroing, though. Being able to reach high shelves is a plus. (Admittedly the crazy energy whip thing would help with that.) Also, this:

(paraphrased) Samus is a young blonde woman, who is 6 ft 3 in (1.91 m) tall and weighs 198 pounds (90 kg) without her armor.
