That aside, it's a whitehouse.gov petition, and as such totally meaningless. None of those states actually seceded, for example.

How long have you had the islands, and how did you come by them? I mean, does Japan have any substantial claim to those islands at all or is this just a well-planned diplomatic powergrab?

In either case it's probably better to let SK keep the islands for now. Extra manpower if or when the ceasefire with NK ends. The less long we have to deal with those assholes the better. It's unlikely Japan would put it to much better use anyway.

It's been Korea's since either Josen, or Goryu (1500s and 1000s, respectively), but Japan illegally* gobbled up Korea around 1920, then gave away Gando to China, and added Dokdo/Lancourt Rocks to its own territory.

*Illegal because they (1) stamped the paper for Gojong the emperor while he was boycotting the court, and (2) used the wrong stamp.

Yeah, it's n64-era. I've seen a lot of N64 era hair in my day; I can tell by the polygons.
