It always says its a beta, though.

I have IE, Chrome, and Firefox all set up, but I only use Firefox on a daily basis. Still, it is useful to have backups.

The laptop I was using died, or at least, stopped charging.

That's not my wtf.

The hard drive in a laptop that won't turn on, is compatible with my old laptop, who's hard drive is dead.

That's not my wtf.

I could have switched them over MONTHS ago.

That's not my wtf, but it is WTFworthy.

My WTF: I don't remember Windows 7 being this... bright! D:

You can turn screen brightness down, and probably did previously.

It means you need a better news source that isn't talking in tweet.

There is no canon to suggest that the prey is still in there when they've been assimilated and inflicting harm on them to test if it's the thing or not is a quick way to expose the ruse. Xenomorphs express no reluctance to inflict self harm or harm on others.
Well, firstly, the canon is ambiguous on whether someone maintains their identity. The activity of the infected person doesn't change once they've been turned but before they are "active". They are also perfectly replaced cell-by-cell, so the whole of yourself would theoretically be unaffected until the Thing becomes active.
Quote
Which the Xenomorph is - albeit a slower changing and more stable creature.
That's utterly ridiculous. If they're slow changing and stable, then they aren't a homogenizing pathogen. They're just evolving. The Thing does not have to go through generations to pick up traits like the Xenomorphs do. It absorbs them and uses them on the fly.
Quote
When the Xenomorphs showed up on Earth they had to nuke it. If the thing showed up in a town they'd have to nuke it.
If the Thing showed up in a town the whole planet would be eaten in a day. Between the vegetation and the wildlife it would have a constant carpet of life to assimilate. Xenomorphs can be shot and killed like anything else. The Thing is practically invulnerable to any form of weaponry that does not destroy every single cell.

They are on entirely different levels of power.

, I'm reminded of New Sun's alzabos, which absorb the memories of their prey. One particular alzabo wants to eat it's first human victim's former family " so that they are all together". Obviously the first victim's personality has a vested interest in this, and it obviously benefits the creature as well. Iirc in the novel they likened it to a hermit crab housed in an algae covered shell. It's a real shell, but the crab is a real crab as well... don t know if I'm getting across the idea....

I just realized something terrible. The D&D half-dragon template can be applied to any corporeal creature. Now, this includes constructs. And Intelligent magical items are basically constructs with no Dex, Str, or Con scores.

So on the one hand, birthing a half-dragon +5 Greatsword. On the other hand, free +5 Greatsword.

Half-dragon half-sword.

Fridge Horror: This means that at some point, a dragon polymorphed into the form of an intelligent weapon, and had sexual intercourse with an intelligent weapon, got it pregnant, and it had half-dragon babies.
Suddenly my mind has entered a new realm of fucked-up, with pregnant swords birthing half-dragon baby swords, which are basically normal baby swords, but with wings and firebreath and oh my god where do they breathe from and wut. wut. o.o
