That does seem like something MURICA would do. And probably what Jef would anticipate if his spread got to the point where they'd have to nuke the city/wherever Jef is. He'd have moved house by then.

If anything this just stresses what years of video games, movies and literature have taught me:

• Always have an easy avenue for escape.
• Check for sexually transmitted Elder beings in your partner regularly.
• FFS get that upper body strength, too many times have characters died for not being able to do one pull up.
