I think it's common knowledge that e-readers are the spawn of horrors beyond human understanding.

(In b4 anyone tells me to get an e-reader: E-readers are the work of Satan. They are dangerous, sacrilegious abominations and I refuse to possess one.)
Also, e-readers cost electricity and can ninja your books away from you without warning.

Thats only kindle. You can avoid it with backups, too

Aside from the unnatural lack of weight and paper in your hands...how so, exactly?

Ah, I just remembered this.

I have a friend who has held a Gutenberg Bible.
The orignals?

Anyway, my mom has three bookshelves of esentially what seems like every important book in western culture (It's not, but damn does it have alot). I've seen everything there from 1984 to Gibbons Decline and Fall of the Roman empire, all volumes, to Darwins On the Origin of Species. She also has a LOT of foreign policy books, unsurprising given her profession. From Herman Khan's books on Nuclear escalation to groupthink to game theory to Biological terrorism.

I checked one of the really old ones, one obviously not made in a factory, (It was bound irregularly for one). It dates from 1583, and is Jean Bodin's Six books of the Republic. I asked her for that info, given my inability to read french. She also told me not to touch those books, that they survived Nazi bombings, and damned she would be if she let me destroy them. I told her this is the first I've ever touched those books (I've read a number of the other books on the shelf. I've stayed away from those), but given my track record...

When we moved to The Middle Of Nowhere, Redneck Land, USA, we got a 40 foot shipping container to hold the stuff that wouldn't fit in the house. 20 feet of that is full bookshelves, totally pack with ton's of books. Plus an extra 5 bookshelves in the house, completely full, and a couple more cardboard boxes. Our book collection is extensive.

Still doesn't fix the fact that you can lose books without a bookthief, while you can't with normal books.

It's known as the Oppai-Kaiju effect. The islands of Japan generate a sort anti-gravity field, which allows breasts to behave as if in microgravity. It's also what allows Godzilla and friends to become 50 stories tall, and lets ninjas run up the side of a skyscraper.

Paper books can get damaged, too. I think it's easier to lose paper books than digital ones. Also: you can't store nearly as many paper books as e-ones. And again, *that's only kindle*. Buy stuff without DRM (or just get them from around) and you're off the hook.

They feel wrong. In all seriousness, there are plenty of worse things that could be the subject of my irrational hatred.

Grandmaster is kinda supposed to be the top league. Like for the people that play in the big tournaments.
TB is not as great a player as he is at casting other people play the game.

Today, I was approached by two people I know from Latin. One asked me "Who would win in a fight, beavers or badgers?" I respond obviously with "badgers". He looks upset, and his friend starts laughing at him and shouting "HA! USA USA USA!". The first guy asked other people, but they gave the same answer, while his friend wa triumphant and patriotic.

I really wish I knew the context of that.
