The real question is:  What did the poor bears ever do for me?

Nothing.  they sit on their lazy arses after eating all that food all summer!  They don't have the decency to come see me ever, and when I go to visit them in their home they get all pissy and statrt yelling!  To top it off, when they do come afround my neighborhood, they always manage to get the cops call on them.  Good for nothin's, I tell you.

Almost every time I hear pigs brought up in discussion in real life, at some point the fact that they're smarter than dogs is brought up. Maybe it's a regional thing, but where I'm at most people are perfectly aware that pigs are quite smart.

People just don't care. Bacon is too delicious, and pigs have other behavioral quirks that detract from their likability (mostly the whole "eats goddamn everything, including you" bit, imo. I have no sympathy for chickens for similar reasons.). Plus, other than the ones bred small... they get kinda' big. Like, width wise. Makes it harder to have as a house pet, y'know? Large dog less likely to destroy living room walking through it.

I think the bigger WTF is that people love pork (myself included) but don't really think about the bathing habits of pigs. Which is to say, this is an animal that is quite content to submerge most of its body in a river of shit and urine. When people talk about pigs rolling in mud, please understand that that is a euphemism. If you've ever been to a pig farm, you're quite aware that this is not simply a slurry of dirt and water we're talking about. There's a valid reason that a number of cultures consider them unclean animals and why "pig" is considered a slur in many languages.

And yet...soooooo delicious. More proof that the universe has a sense of humor.
