Sometimes it means you're gay too.

No offense to gay people, but I highly doubt it :P

@ RedWarrior: That's the old Oedipus complex, right?

Unless your a female, in which case it's the Electra complex.

Maybe, you could want to try new things like incest, patricide and homosexuality?

Freud had the Oedipus complex but he was wet-nursed by a stranger then probably re-introduced into the family later, so may have not been subconciously "primed" that his mother was a family member. This also happens with siblings who are separated at a young age then meet when they are mature - much more likely to be attracted to each other. Of course, Freud took his own experiences to be normal for everyone, of every culture.

It was more or less normal to "send the baby off to wetnurse" for any number of years at a time. I guess with high infant mortality they didn't want to waste emotions on baby. In the renaissance until the 20th century this was known as "baby farming". These women might have 40 babies in the house (and they'd feed them mouldy gruel rather than milk, thus keeping the mortality rate nice and high), so it wasn't like they made house-calls or anything.

Quote
Richer women would also put their babies out to be cared for in the homes of villagers. Claire Tomalin gives a detailed account of this in her biography of Jane Austen, who was fostered in this manner, as were all her siblings, from a few months old until they were toddlers. Tomalin emphasises the emotional distance this created. <= (relevant)
...And just for the lulz:
Quote
Particularly in the case of lump-sum adoptions, it was more profitable for the baby farmer if the infant or child she adopted died, since the small payment could not cover the care of the child for long. Some baby farmers adopted numerous children and then neglected them or murdered them outright

Quote
On January 31,1868, The Pall Mall Gazette exposed yet another adopter. Mrs. Jagger of Tottenham, whose ads for childcare and confinement services could be found in the Daily Telegraph, was reported to have had from 40 to 60 infants in her care in the past three years, the majority of whom had died of starvation.

This kind of thing was phased out by government-regulated foster care. But we all know that government are nothing but busy-bodies who only make things worse, right? The free market was sorting out things fine before this. (baby killers wouldn't get many new contracts).

So someone has plastered the general campus area with posters that have an image of a teddy bear centaur and a caption saying "This is not my teddy."

I have no idea what purpose could these serve besides making people go "WTF!?"

Also one of the roommates had a friend over, the guy came in to say hi, introduced himself to the other roommate, then turned to me saying that he knows me already, asked how I was. I didn't really hear that and absentmindedly said my name as if to introduce myself. Didn't realize this untill he left and the roommate pointed it out. Now I feel kinda bad for that but also kinda worried because I'm sure I'd remeber a guy with a unique name like his :S

Maybe they found it and are wondering whose it is

From Kentucky:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

I actually already knew about this from a classmate; apparently it's popular in rural towns around Easter to have bins full of brightly dyed bunnies and ducklings for sale as gifts for children.

Oh, and I just got my fingernail stuck between my bottom front two teeth.
It was painful.

Edit 2:I did it again. This time I can't get my finger out.

I've done this before...

I wonder, how exactly, did you do it a SECOND time?

Honestly, I don't think I quite remember.
It was one of those "Seemed like a good idea at the time." Things.
Oh, and I just did it again.
Thanks for reminding me.
It hurt quite alot this time.

Mostly woke up from a dream, spent a minute or two staring at the back of my eyelids thinking, "Did the computer just crash or somethin'? Why isn't the screen turning back on after I closed that program?"

Then I did a cognitive blink or two and went, "Oh. Right. You're mostly asleep, your eyes are closed, and the computer is actually (more or less) off."

In my defense, th'dream was sorta' structured like I was watching a video of a vacation trip. Along those lines. So when the "video" ended, I was like, "Hey, what gives?"

Then I realized exactly what gave, and kinda'... felt maybe a little silly.

I do things similar to that sometimes.
Except if I was dreaming I was reading usually. I kind of try to hold the edges of the book for a few seconds before realising that there never was a book.

Man you must spend too much time on the computer if you wake up from a dream and are confused that you're not back at the desktop xD

I believe you mean "Not enough." If I was doing it right, I would have woke up from a dream and actually been back at the desktop ;)

Maybe before I die they'll have biometric detecting computers that notice when you're waking up and turn themselves on. Maybe fix a cuppa' tea or somethin' for yeh, too. Robot butllleeeerrrr.
