My plans for the zombie apocalypse are to chill out. Because my entire landmass has a lower population than a small city.

4 friends and merciless raiding on shops.

After the population of zombies dies down some (decay, starvation, w.e.) we establish a permenant home, with guards and escape vehicles.

Get plenty of ciggeretts and alcohol and the like for the high value that will have.

But what about the other millions of people that plan on raiding stores for supplies when the apocalypse come? There will be dangerous competition there.

I would go into the city .  If I am to die in the apocolypse Im going to do it trying to survive/make sure my genes survive.

edit: Material/technologies will be what save lives in any apocolyptic setting.  Your ability to survive and help others is directly linked to your ability to provide these subsidiaries.

Not really. Cities have places for you to shelter. Freezing to death out in the woods or getting mauled by wild animals isn't much different from getting eaten by a zombie.

Heh. British homes are all castles. Only problem is food.

Yeah, I already know how I could secure my area. If we're lucky we can get a double decker bus to secure the main road, otherwise we'll have to just secure the lake and everything around it. All with fields of overlapping view and riverside access. Worse comes to worse, it'd be a matter of evacuating across the Thames.

Depends what city. European ones tend to have been built with defense in mind, and more modern constructions with security in mind. Only problem is food, which still most urban areas would not fail to acquire unless some catastrophic infrastructure collapse occurred. Cities are resilient hives of humanity.

Wild animals can be scared off and don't outnumber you by potentially millions. Plus you can't eat the zombies you kill. I'd rather live in the wilderness.

Zombie survival guide is full of BS. City has the least amount of dangerous organisms likely to be zombified, plenty of defensible structures, and the security forces to easily contain a zombie threat.

It's the countryside that would quickly fall to the zombie menace. Unless we're talking disease-based rage zombies, in which case, well, I'm pretty sure you're screwed regardless.

I have, and depending on the type of zombies (rager vs. Romero) you can certainly do it.  I mean small city, not New York City.

After the chaos the only solution is to grab and go.

I think ya'll are missing the point. Cities are full of PEOPLE, which generally get TURNED INTO ZOMBIES in this sort of event. MILLIONS OF ZOMBIES. Instead of two hundred or whatever in Podunk, Middleofnowhere.
Not to mention, people can be far more dangerous than zombies. Bandits, and other assorted nasty people who don't want to share resources after the end, would be far more dangerous than zombies.

ZSG doesn't go by Resident Evil rules of Everything Can Be A Zombie. Just humans. Zombie flesh is extremely toxic and filled with the virus. So cities are terribad for surviving.
