There's a proposal in the European Union that would make Resident Physicians not workers, but students, and as such they would not pay wages, but would have to pay tuition instead. I wonder what the guy who drafted that up was smoking. I mean, do they really expect *anyone* to pay in order enjoy the "priviledge" of a resident's backbreaking scheudle?

I'm not particularily worried about this shit getting through, OR if it did, actually affecting me. But seriously, I'd rather pack up and move to South America than submit to this golden-shower of a law.

At any rate it does not affect me; here we are protected by a decree from 2006. It'd be funny if, in the current climate of everything-going-to-hell, medical residents from here were in a better position than abroad simply by virtue of getting paid, however little

Paying for an even an internship tbh sounds a bit ridiculous. Even as in intern, you are probably helping your profession (i.e. your boss) enough to avoid having to pay, perhaps even getting paid a minimum wage.

To add insult to injury, PAYING TO STUDY A MEDICAL PROFESSION? "Sorry bro, you're not allowed to heal other people unless you pay extra moneyz." WHAT THE HELL?!?! If there was ONE profession that should be protected from all of this, it should be medicine (admitting bias now as I am working towards a medical - like profession, but you get my drift )
