I have always, without fail, gotten sick immediately before every blood drive I would have been able to participate in, thus rendering my blood pathogenic and unusable. I don't even know what my blood type really is.

(Also, fun fact: Everyone thinks Type O is rare, but in actuality Type O is the most common blood type amongst Americans.)

I've only once had blood taken for any reason. I'd gotten a tick bite, and they were checking for lyme disease and such. After they pulled out the blood, I closed my eyes and leaned back for a minute, just to get my breath back so to speak, then realized I was starting to black out and pulled myself awake again. I got pins and needles over basically my entire body. I opened my eyes, and was completely unable to see anything.According to those there, I turned completely white, and my pupils had dilated to the point that my iris and most of the whites were not visible. I tried to stay calm and take deep breaths, and after a few minutes my color came back and I was able to see again. But the weirdest thing was that for a few moments, while my sight was recovering, I couldn't see any colors or shades, but I could still see outlines. I can only describe it as everything being black with a thin grey edge around it, but that isn't exactly right.A few cups of water and peanut butter crackers later and I was mostly fine, but that's probably the weirdest thing that's ever happened to me.

People with + can receive both, people with - can only receive -. And that is on top of all other A/B/O limitations as well.

Ayup. Hence why 0- is so special, because the ±10% of the population with rhesus factor -, and specifically other people with 0-, would have trouble with receiving blood cells if there weren't any.
