Clearly, that isn't Headlnes-Grabbing enough. At the end of the day, its a treatment for a rare disorder. No one should care. But then the phrase "Poop Transplant" is used.

I don't think so, because it seems  the bacteria have to be used to living within the digestive tract to do their magic. Bacteria from a sterile environment would probably just get high and eat all your munchies all day, instead of helping you digest stuff.

Plus, it's cheaper to just put poop in a pipe with water and stick it in your arse than to cultivate the bacteria and... put it in a pipe with water and stick it up your arse?

The disease itself sounds a lot like dysentery. That's a disease that's pretty well-known as being very shitty, and not just in a punny way. It's killed a hell of a lot of people. I'd imagine that between getting poop water up the butt and dying of pooping yourself to death, people would choose the poop water treatment.

Trust me, any dysentery like disease is agonizingly horrific. After some time you can't even differentiate between what's vomit and what's diarrhea. After a week you'd choose anything that would make you healthier.
