Also yes, I'm guessing people who pronounce it that way assume it's a Spanish name. I would have no problem with that, it's just that I live in Australia, far, far away from any large Spanish-speaking communities, and the word is well known both as the instrument and the famous Australian poet.

I think I might start introducing myself as Baņo just for shits and giggles. Also it sounds cool.
...Just gotta work out how to replicate that accent on a normal keyboard.

Middle names?  Mine's Edward.  My whole name is fairly boring.  I go by Chuck.  I'm completely named after (first, middle, and last) my grandfather on my dad's side, who died when my dad was still in his mid-teens.

My kids have awesome names, though.  Hiro Edward (inspired by Hiro Protagonist from Snow Crash) and Grim Echo.  People screw them up all the time (pronouncing Hiro as Hai-Ro and spelling Grim as Grimm), but what they don't ever do is forget them.

Here's a new WTF: I decided to sit down, open the 'find friends' page on Facebook and try to actually work out how the hell I'm supposed to know all these people it suggests to me. Whoah. It's quite surreal, actually, scrolling down and seeing all these half-remembered people I used to know years ago, seeing how different they look and, perhaps most WTFishly, checking the list of mutual friends.
Seriously, it gets confusing, seeing how one person on my friend list will share a mutual friend with someone from a completely different part of my life. Also, some of the people I recognize/click on, their profiles are just freaking hilarious. Oh man.

...I'm not sure why I'm reading Facebook's list of "People You May Know". That's a whole seperate WTF. This nonsense probably kills almost as many brain cells as reading Youtube comments.

I am currently reading a book which takes place in a semi-biblical end-of-times, with wars between angels (who are asshole rapists) and "the resurrected" which for all ends and purposes act like Romero Zombies (of the infectious sort). People cheer on them whenever they eat an angel though, because at least they can sort of empathize with the former. Yeah, it's a very odd novel

Kyle here, or if my twin (fraternal) brother is in the same room, Sam. I kid you not, we look nothing alike and yet everyone ends up calling me by my brother's name.

It's not a problem these days since we go to different universities, but man. Twins just throw everyone off.

Fun fact: There have been some studies that indicate that small children perceive twins (even just fraternal, but especially identical ones) as a single entity. We have some good friends with fraternal twins named Penny and Isaak. My son refers to them as "Pennyissak" and rarely mentions just one or the other. Apparently, many small children will think that identical twins are the same person, even when they're both standing there. (I guess they think it's one person with two bodies to control?)
