So we did this team building exercise at work today, facilitated by some third party guy.  The exercise itself wasn't so bad, but the speech afterwards was rather depressing.  He told us a bunch of stuff about being creative, making the job fun, how people fear authority more than they need to, etc.  It was all reasonable stuff... except after it was over and we all went back to work, every single person agreed that it was completely worthless because upper management explicitly forbids basically all of the principles he encouraged, and have been more than willing to fire people even for things that were clearly demonstrated to improve productivity and office morale.  The guy obviously had no fucking clue what the dynamics in this office are like, or real appreciation for the nature of the work that we do.

I don't understand why this thing was inflicted on us.  Was it mocking?  Or do our bosses actually fail to understand what they're like, and that they're just feeding us inspiration that they're going to turn around and punish us for later?

Well today I was described as having a "Classic" face, which would make me perfect for my friends photography project (which is Victorian themed) as most of her volunteers have "too modern faces".

Are we sure he's not just worried that he's going to be implicated somehow? otherwise I share the WTF reaction.

Nope, he's definitely got righteous fury about the incident itself. He's really prideful about his frat's reputation of "gentlemanly conduct" and "respect for women". He suspects that another frat at the party is responsible, but seems ready to raise hell and kick ass regardless if he finds out who is responsible.
