Don't worry, your roommate will soon discover the dark horrors one day when he wakes up.

Living on campus is mandatory for freshmen at my college as well.

Anyway, more disturbingly, my roommate has been advocating that sleeping with someone who is drunk is perfectly acceptable because: "If they'll screw you when they're drunk they'll screw you when they're sober." Christ, this guy...

Legally speaking, he is correct. (In the USA) Morally and pretty much every other way, he's being a scumbag. Wierd how laws don't match up with what is right and wrong. :/

Uh no, not legally speaking. Legally, drunk people are not in a state in which they may grant consent. I tried to tell him so, but he doesn't give a shit.

Oh well, I tried, if he ends up charged with sexual assault it isn't on my hands.

In the Republic of Korea, you should rape people when you are drunk.

Why? Intoxication is a get-out-of-jail-free card for many crimes including robbery, rape, molesting, car accidents (strangely), vandalism ... There's a lot of precedents in court for that.

As long as you are over 19 years old, of course.

Strange, I have heard that if they are still conscious, they are capable of granting consent. I'm not in the mood to argue about something that doesn't apply to me though.

Oh yeah, and the best part is that his major is Pre-Law Studies. Dude doesn't know much of anything about law, but he thinks he does. I know more about law than him, and my major is Appropriate Tech.

In AMERICA, you can actually be arrested just for being drunk in public, if you're drunk enough. I think it's really freaking drunk though. And you're still to blame for all the bad things you did whilst falling over and urinating on the walls of the local high school.

19 is the drinking age over there? I thought most of the drinking age cut-offs were at 16, 18, and 21. Interesting.

19 is Ontario. Most of Canada too, but it's decided provincially. So for instance, Quebec is 18 (I think).

You can get arrested for being over the legal limit ( .08 most places) in public, regardless of whether or not you were behaving drunk. Especially in the middle of podunk redneck land where I live. The whole 'justice and freedom' thing is more of a large populations kind of thing. Around here, the people in power (judges, cops, politicians) get away with whatever they want. Including violating your constitutional rights pretty much at will, because:
1. People are poor around here, no money means you can't fight da POWAH!
2. If you can fight da POWAH! then you're going to be buried under bullshit by the local government's lawyers.
3. In the meantime, the police and others are going to harrass the FUCK out of you
4. No one cares what happens in places that aren't well known.

Oh, Hans lives near Branson, MO.  That explains a lot.  I've been down there, it's pretty redneck once you get out of the touristy areas (i.e. Branson proper).  The Ozarks are a pretty frightening place if they deem you an "other".

Ex-wife just came and picked up my munchkin because I feel like shit. Normally, she'd be all like, "Ha! Suck it up and be a parent, bitch!" Today, however, she was totally cool. Weird.

I'm an ex Quebecois and you're right about the drinking age. The funny thing is that the kids that kill themselves drunk driving in Quebec are usually from Ontario coming over to drink. I have no clue why the 1 year difference in laws even exists, but knowing Quebec it's probably an issue of pride by now.

Yeah. I actually live in Branson's less socially adjusted, somewhat mentally challenged cousin, Kimberling City. And there are houses around here that have multiple toilets on their run down front porch, for no apparent reason. It isn't redneck, it's hillbilly. :/ Which is a bit worse, in my opinion.
