I mean, I guess he could be pretty hurt, but the last I heard, he's been dismissing it and talking about how much he doesn't care about her. You have to choose, dude. You can't talk about how much you hate her and talk about how much you're over her. Those are inherently contradictory.

I'm a little tipsy so my interpersonal skills are kinda foggy right now but I'm just going to assume I won that. Although I really don't want to piss him off since I really think he and his ex are both really cool people that I want to hang out with in the future.

Sounds about right. He is definitely not over it in anyway, but that's not exactly something you can make him understand. Emotionally upset people are about the most impossible to talk to people in the whole world. They never listen.

The funny part is I think his girlfriend is pretty much over it at this point. Maybe she still talks about it with her close friends but she doesn't mention it at parties or make passive-aggressive Facebook statuses. Oh well, I'll try to avoid talking about it with them anymore since I don't want to make myself anyone's enemy.
