They didnt sell their right they were ordered by olympics lot to not sell them, Apparently it ok to order fish and chips but not chips on their own.

Dont see why chips could be banned due to sale of fries.
Fries =  miserable nuked horrible matchstick things
Chips = Lovely thick chunky golden deep fried sliced spuds

Also Visa has had 27 LINK ATMs shut down and replaced with 8 visa only machines as Visa is the Official payment method.

Not once have I ever heard any American refer to a french fry as a victory fry and I was born here, lived here 20 years, and I've met literally hundreds of thousands of other Americans.

A copper statue. Do you have any idea how valuable copper is right now? That statue is a monument to the friendship there should be between France and USA. Instead we insult them and change the name of french fries because we're douches.* :/ Also, I think french fries are from Belgium... ? WTF? How'd we get French fries from Belgium?

I think the Victory/Freedom Fry thing was big back during the World Wars, when they were trying to drum up nationalism.

Never heard them called Victory Fries, but they were called Freedom Fries for a few months or so in like 2002 or 2003,  I remember jack in the box changed them to Freedom Fries for a little bit, then changed them to Natural Cut Fries, instead of calling them French Fries.

On March 11, 2003, Representatives Robert W. Ney (R-Ohio) and Walter B. Jones, Jr. (R-North Carolina) declared that all references to French fries and French toast on the menus of the restaurants and snack bars run by the House of Representatives would be removed. House cafeterias were ordered to rename French fries "freedom fries". This action was carried out without a congressional vote, under the authority of Ney's position as Chairman of the Committee on House Administration, which oversees restaurant operations for the chamber. The simultaneous renaming of French toast to "freedom toast" attracted less attention.
