After all the trashy romance novels I've ran into, the infamy over 50 Shades of Grey seems kind of unjustified. Yes, it's stupid. Yes, it is glorified Twilight fanfiction. No, that doesn't mean everyone and their mother on every network across this great internet needs to either worship or rage at it.

This is yet another thing I blame on Reddit.

The number of giggling middle ages women in work who cant talk about anything other than how "naughty but sexy" it is getting to an annoying level. I am very tempted to show them real porn as a comparison to the badly written Twilight fan-fic (lol @ how many "now he puts the condom on" sentences it has) in an effort to highlight just how "naughty" our species is capable of being.

"Real porn" isn't much better in my experience. I do like me some good erotic fiction, but finding something that isn't either painfully slow/boring or horribly contrived is hard. Eroticism and good characterization/plot aren't diametrically opposed, but most authors seem to think they are.
