I read this and tried to figure what Crawford would classify as "innovation" but I just can't.

He needs to play some more indie games.
Its general knowledge that AAA titles arent epicly creative.

Knowing Belgium, everyone will vote for themselves out of mistrust for anyone else, and some kind of weird direct democracy coalition will need to be formed from 11 million or so individuals.

It seems he wants games to have more complex interactions between yourself and the environment. I like this idea, but it becomes very apparently daunting once you realize exactly what that entails. All these interactions need programming to back them, and a computer to process the data. To make this feasible would require an actual thinking computer.

Then he starts talking about how the games industry should start acting more like Hollywood. I kept reading and thought to myself "but Hollywood is doing horribly! Everything he's saying about them is wrong!". Hollywood has no innovation anymore. Hell, they are falling back on the 3d gimmick again, something they've only done several times before. Maybe it's because this was published back in 2006, but that still doesn't really excuse a lot of what he said.

Overheard in the lobby at work:
Woman 1:"And this is a corn plant." (I thought this was WTF too, but later determined that there is in fact an ornamental tree species known as a "corn plant", Dracaena fragrans)

Woman 2:"Oh...I thought corn grew underground?"

??? I know urban dwellers are kind of disconnected from the food supply, but COME ON....SRSLY?

“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

YOu forgot the part where Hollywood is trying to legislate the internet into a broken yet TV-like state.

It's known as the Oppai-Kaiju effect. The islands of Japan generate a sort anti-gravity field, which allows breasts to behave as if in microgravity. It's also what allows Godzilla and friends to become 50 stories tall, and lets ninjas run up the side of a skyscraper.

Woman 2:"Oh...I thought corn grew underground?"
Fun fact: Corn plants ARE bred and genetically modified under a mountain, at least according to what I saw watching Modern Marvels. It was more convenient for creating a controlled environment for modifying them than building an entire above-ground facility, apparently.

a.) This is not shopped. Go to google maps; it's straight from there. Copy and paste: "Holy Cross Cemetery, Brook Park Ohio."
b.) These have been the original boundaries of the cemetery pretty much forever.

Seriously, somebody just.... Whoever laid those cemetery roads.... Wow.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

How did nobody catch this in the planning phase? It's not the most efficient, or cheapest road scheme Somebody pretty much just got away with drawing that on the earth and probably got paid for it.... That doesn't look like  a church steeple to me or anything....
