I carried DOG's ball with me through Ravenholm while getting that achievement.

..See, this is why I'm bad at this kind of thing. I never would have thought of that. Seriously, it's his ball, you're not supposed to take that with you... but you can, and nobody's going to stop you. Man.

I wonder if I can backtrack all the way back to the part where all the saws are lying around?

The saw blades are the easiest things to lose. I prefer barrels. There's a motor or two laying around that work really well - crush zombies and hard to lose.

I got the idea of the ball from someone else. They managed to get it past the water (after the headcrab cave), but that was too difficult for me.
And I doubt DOG cares much about the ball. Especially considering they abandon the facility very shortly after you play with it.

On Prometheus, I guess I should mention that:

Ridley Scott left out a scene in the film that would have tied a lot of things together. You see, the Engineers left multiple maps for humanity, but that stopped....approximately 2000 years ago, which was also when the bioweapons base was destroyed. There was originally to be a scene where the Engineers sent one of their own down to the Roman Empire to express their displeasure with humanity's civilization, but got crucified in the process. Yeah.

The implication from there is that some humans got their hands on the black goo and caused it to go crazy, but that the Engineers somehow brought it back with them and it killed everyone at the bioweapon lab. This is the point where the Engineers decided they were going to destroy humanity.

The black goo basically reacts to the metaphorical "sin" of humankind and makes monsters, but the Engineers are metaphorically "pure" despite the whole "wipe out entire civilizations" thing they have going on, so for them the black goo breaks them down into the components of life.

Its kind of stupid either way, but at least it would have made more sense if he had left that in.
