Marine animals presumably don't count, however, which does leave substantially more room for the land animals to choke and die in. Still not enough though.

Whoever wrote the bibe fucked up that passage. Shouldn't have given the dimensions.

A do-over which the planner-deity thought was required because, after giving a creation free-will to do what they wanted, they did something other than what planner-deity wanted them to do. By excersizing their free will. >_>

I've always thought the idea of free will to be a rather anomalous one within the framework of Christian theology, also.  They believe in an all-knowing/all-powerful being that meticulously placed every particle in the universe (he has a plan, after all) and then flipped the switch to set it all in motion, basically guaranteeing that, given his infinite knowledge, he should know exactly everything that's going to happen ever based purely on causality... and then they also believe that he gave us free will.

Wut.
And then goes, "Holy fuckballs, what are you assholes doing down there!? Fuck it, I'm drowning all you morons. Hey, you! Build a motherfuckin' boat!"

I bring up this argument with every christian I get to know who seems chill enough to handle it... and the response every single time has been roughly "hmm.... you know... I don't think he's so infallible after all..."

Quite the incompetent planning all around, really. Then again, the whole plan is the result of said planner-deity saying 'ah, shit, I need a do-over.' A do-over which happened to involve genociding nearly all of everything. >_>

I do like the irony here.  The story is supposed to be an example of the infallible omni-being's amazing miracle powers, but with a critical glance you realize that it's a massive demonstration of that being's epic fallibility.
No, the best part is that said deity decides to annihilate humanity because we were having sex with giants/angels and making human-giant/angel hybrids.

You think I'm fucking with you, but you're wrong.
The other interesting bit is it notes the deity can feel regret for its past actions; thus implying said deity exists in some sort of single-directional time-like substance. And it goes about correcting a mistake not by going back and fixing it at its source in the time-stream-like-substance, but by wiping it out by erasing it in the deity's present. Implying, among other things, that the deity is neither all powerful in our universe nor independent from a universe or universe-like substrate itself, since it exists in a time-like substance.

And the method of destruction is rather poor too; instead of simply magicking them out of existence, it goes about devising an overly-complicated, rube-goldberg like plan which involves magicking in huge quantities of water before magicking away said water afterwards.

To be fair, any free will that's obliterated by an omniscient creator deity is equally obliterated by observable fact - the possibility of humans manipulating other humans means that people do not actually have free will, because other people can knowingly cause them to act in particular ways. Personally, I'm not convinced that you haven't made a choice if somebody set you up to make it.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

From what we know about modern physics, there are 2 possibilities, neither of which is free will. The only difference being a question of whether it is entirely deterministic or has some elements of randomness; but in the end, no free will simply because we are the meat in our heads. Of course, we usually aren't willing to say as much, nor do we really fully grasp it even if we do.

That was the first image I could find, and I'm sticking with it. I'd rather be able to collect a variety of element-controlling monsters than be a pony :P

Ah, but ponies ARE element controlling monsters! It's just that they control the elements of friendship, instead of fire or wind or silly things like that.

Right. 'Scuse me as I test your friendship-type pony against my flying/fire Charizard.

...

Well, we learned two things. A, friendship-type is weak against fire-type. B, Charizard finds ponies delicious.
