"Oppressed" might be too strong a word for nerds, but "prejudiced against" is certainly accurate.


And while you might have a "nerd clique," being a nerd does not automatically mean you're in a clique. A clique is just a small exclusive social group.

Yeah, Dawkins is pretty much the king of not respecting anyone with religion. I wouldn't recommend him to anyone religious.

Dawkins is a militant Atheist, who's had to put up with a lot of intolerable fundamentalist theists. And he with reason, has *quite* a few qualms with religion. I have no idea what your friend sent you, but meh, I don't see why he would send it to you expecting it to change your core beliefs.
I would also disagree with you on the respect part, he has no problems with the people, rather the doctrines, and there's a really well example of this when Dawkins essentially has a 3 hour long conversation with a priest, where both conducted themselves rather nicely.
Also a bit confused as to why you seem a bit hurt your friend would assume that.
