Meh, a dutch girl I know did it with her live cat (he was sick), and made it into a handbag, she got enormous flak for that. Then she composed all the hatemail she got with all the personal information about the senders she could find (yay facebook) and compiled that into a book.

Anyone with a leather handbag whining about it should be shot on sight for stupidity (yes, in my world stupidity is a capital offense).

Anywho I'm on the fence here due to the cat already being dead and being doubtful he cares. I'm a vegetarian and don't use leather products myself, but I'm a bit more pragmatic if the animal in question wasn't killed to harvest its body parts.

I somehow find this less weird than the (significantly more common) past-time of taxidermying people's pets. Which just seems creepy. Even the ashes thing that's even more common kind of freaks me out.

For mine, I mostly just grind their bones into jewelry, which I think is the only sane and reasonable response to a dead pet. ;)
