You know, I always wondered: why rock and roll? Why not metal, or techno? Or some other genre? Why rock and roll of all of them?
Because elvis had one hell of a pelvic twist, and these people (well, the primary instigators or whatever) still remember it firsthand.

Hip envy, y'dig?

Suddenly, it all makes sense.

I've been playing Earthbound, and I've gotten to Saturn Village (that's it's name, right?). Now the game was rather subtly WTF before the village, but, well, Saturn Village just comes right out of the left field. And centre field. And the right field. You know what? It's like a twelve-round game of WTF Asteroids, complete with funny scripts and too many legs.

Saturn Valley.

And the game hasn't even started bombing you with WTF yet. It is THE sci-fi mind screw RPG.

Glad to hear. I've been enjoying it's brand of WTF so far.

This just in folks, people who have premarital sex turn into B-list horror movie villains!
My mother educated us at home, and, unfortuately, many homeschooling materials are very fundamentalist Christian. We have found books that blame Einstein’s theories of relativity and the hippies for the moral decline of society and explicitly state that rock and roll music will cause one to lose control of one’s body.

These people are out there voting and operating machinery.

That's actually very odd. Not only are there a large number of homeschooling materials that have no religious affiliation, most Christian textbooks I've encountered are generally superior to the standard texts (with a few obvious exceptions in the Sciences.) Generally, the only way to tell is that the writing examples are often Bible verses, or the long section on why evolution is an error. (It may be that I mainly get the better ones. Most of the ones I've seen use the timescale objections, which are generally rather solidly thought out.) Not to be able to find either is surprising.

Because nothing is sacred. Except porn. That's sacred, else we wouldn't make so much of it.

There is one thing that is at least semi-sacred. And that is Yotsuba. I'm sure r34 exists somewhere, but it's shunned by all but the most depraved of places (not even 4chan accepts it.).

I started talking about a game that I bought, and we hopped topics to a dream my mom had in our old house. She dreamed that there was an extra room in the basement, and she had this dream often.

We don't often talk about our old house for lots of reasons. I saw an old lady in the corner of my eye every time I was in the basement. My sister's friend saw it too at my sister's party, and made one hell of a scream. Cold pockets all over the basement, even in summer and far from any vents. At night a shadowy figure descended from the ceiling and stood at the base of my bed staring at me, and this happened often enough that I refused to sleep without the light on in fear of waking up with the figure standing next to me. Once we moved out I went on without the lights without an issue. Lastly, my sister complained about her bed being shaken at night by a girl.

So when my mom brought up the dream it donned on me and my dad, there actually was enough room for another room. The bathroom was always small, and the bedroom next to it had a good 4 foot gap before it opened up. We mapped out the rooms on a piece of paper from what we remembered and there it was. If there could have been an extra room it would have been there. That is one scary coincidence for one hell of a scary house.

I'm half-skeptic/half-believer.  I don't bother with stuff that can be easily explained.  I understand how most things can be explained via hypnagogia, pareidolia, confirmation bias, etc.  However, this isn't always sufficient enough for me.

For instance, when my kid hears whispers or feels fingers on his back, I don't think much of it.  When other people who have no pre-existing knowledge of these things come over and also hear whispers, I begin to wonder.  When two people simultaneously hear whispers next to the bed where my kid is sleeping, while he squirms and repeats "NO" as if refusing an offensive suggestion, and these whispers unmistakably continue as those two people enter the room and stand right next to the source, I get very concerned.

I'm pretty sure there's something going on around here right now that I can't explain.  I've actually suspected for years that something nasty could be attached to my wife, but I've kept that completely to myself (didn't even reveal my suspicions to her) until very recently.  There's been some escalation, and a few events that make me seriously wonder if it could be cause for worry.  I might post more about it in the terrified thread later.

Ben & Jerrys Phish Food iced cream. It tastes like chocolate iced cream, but it feels like chocolate iced cream with wads of phlegm in it.

That's because Hippies are used to people spitting in their food.

Ben and Jerry's are the hippy ice cream brand.

Do they still have their portraits on every pint? Just look at that beard.

There was no portrait.

Now I must leave some out on my porch so I can catch a hippy. I did not think we still had those.
