This had two comments when I first heard it. So this is what it feels like to be a hipster.

For reasons I don't feel like explaining I was examining  the insect section of 2chan, which is Japans version of 4chan,
and I came across this, which looks pretty cool, I haven't done any research into what it actually is,

but it looks like a liquid that they feed ants that make them change color?

I assume those are honeypot ants, which eat a ton of sweet liquid until their abdomens swell up. And yes, you can see through them.

It's just standard sugar water with food coloring. That particular ant variety just happens to have a transparent abdomen.
Google "Mohamed Babu ants" and you can find the original story from which the image originates. They probably aren't honeypot ants; just ants with a transparent abdoment.
