Me: "You know it's going to be the Queen's birthday again, soon, right?"
3yr old mini-siquette: "Yeah and there's gonna be clowns!"
"Uhh maybe"
"Yeah and uncle Jesus is going to be there and then he's going to kill all the people"
"That... doesn't sound fun. Jesus is a good guy right?"
*smiling in a creepy way* "No, he's going to kill everyone. And the clowns. And the princesses because they're coming too. And the Queen."

My kid has reached the "Creepy little horror movie girl" age. I'm sure there's a troper page for that somewhere. She's freaking me out sometimes. The shit she does to her dolls, man... Nightmare stuff.

This one.

Though if she starts acting out this stuff it crosses over into this one.

But the optimist sees injustice as something discordant and unexpected, and it stings him into action.

I thought clowns, while overall scary as shit, are still widely accepted to be sort of normal?

In what universe are clowns normal?

Maybe the clown universe. But that universe is weird.

Normal's the wrong word, but most people don't seem to think they're a reason for concern.

Yeah, I've never really had a problem with clowns. I don't really understand why people are afraid of them; one of my fondest memories is visiting the circus, and the clowns were an integral part of it!

Nah, the uncanny valley is when you try to make things look realistic, but instead they look wrong. Clowns aren't trying to look real, they're over-exaggerated.

Not quite. The uncanny valley is what you get when you fail at realism, but not the same thing. It's when something almost, but not quite, looks human.

Zombies are another example of uncanny valley residents.

She keeps insisting on calling him either "Uncle Jesus" or "Baby Jesus", depending on when it's Christmas or not (we're not raising her religious btw).

Creepy kid.

She just smashed one of her dolls with its head against the floor five times, and put her in the corner, naked, for behaving badly.  :-\
Now I get why the daycare center wanted to put her under observation.

When in doubt, blame it on a political party of your choice.

There's a huge natural gas blowout from a rig in the North Sea british sector, yet there's hardly any mention in the news.

This made me go WTF:

I find it amusing, if a trifle disturbing.

@Footjob, you can microwave most grains I've tried pretty easily through the microwave, even if they aren't packaged for it.

I found a small group of strawberries that had been fused together; they appeared to be a disk of strawberries, all pointing outwards, with two patches of leaves growing from the sides. It was delicious.
