Portal as an FPS?

Technically true. It's in a first-person perspective, and you're shooting some form of gun.

For a second I thought about playing Portal from the perspective of the turrets.  Awesome, right?  Then I thought about it for more than a second and realized exactly why and how bad of an idea that is.

Admittedly, Portal has some "physics aren't supposed to work like that!" moments. Like when you make a blue portal on the floor, then an orange one right next to it, then jump in. And proceed to bob back and forth through the floor, with your perspective flipping every other second.

See, if I were Aperture Science, the first thing I do when I make a portal gun is Make a large vertical solenoid and put a long bar magnet in a portal at the bottom and out a portal at the top and let it generate current for me.

Generally the moment you have the two portals, it breaks conservation of energy. Or is supposed to rend the universe around it, much like a table cloth folding inwards...

No, mine is better. Science doesn't explain why things happen, it explains how things happen. In the portal universe, they achieve all of this with rather unorthodox science...
