It was a server log file.  I couldn't get anything to successfully open it, too much to load and it wasn't relevant enough to put any real effort into finding a way to.

My boss tells me it's a log file that the system was supposed to occasionally clean but he figures something went wrong with the cleaning.  And from the state of the actual server it was attached to when it came into our shop, it was probably growing in size at a crazy rate for the 7 years the server has been running basically unmaintained for.  The server itself is now a boat anchor.

My orders were to back up everything ELSE and then format the drive.   Goodbye crazy huge log file, what mysteries you could have solved are now gone forever.  RIP.

Apparently, according to my HMO's website I have stage III renal (kidney) failure.

Which is odd, since to my knowledge I haven't been to the doctor for a couple year, and have never had any symptoms, or tests for kidney disease.
