People where I live (Portland, Oregon) use ma'am so rarely that I've never actually heard it used in real life in this area. It's also very rare that I hear "sir", if at all.

I only ever hear police officers use those. It probably makes people more offended than if they were to just shout, "HEY YOU!".

I got Day of Defeat: Source. Thanks Valve, but I don't play Counterstrike and I kinda doubt I'll play this :/
