Of course it makes sense, if the pirate's price is far more affordable than the original program, and you can't get it through the freebie pirate channels (eg, because you don't have internet). Heck, before P2P and high speed DSL it was one of the few ways to pirate stuff, the others being hand-to-hand disk sharing (which might or might not require someone to have a CD burner, depending on how big the thing was. IF you had a CD burner, that is. Once upon a time such things were prohibitively expensive, you know.), and warez sites (which required a lot of patience and tended to be full of fakes)

THere's also the people who keep megaupload premium accounts and the like. I personally have never seen the point in one, given that free megaupload allows you quite a bit of mileage already.

It's certainly weird, but I have no idea if it's deadly. I don't even really know how that could be happening, to be honest.

Still, if you aren't dead from whatever is causing it yet you'll probably be fine. Probably.
