Maybe the characters tend to be those ages because those are probably the median ages of the players of each subgenre?

He didn't say "target audience" he said "Medium ages of the players of each subgenre" which I am saying isn't close to true... because Pokémon.

Then add in that the target audience of M-rated games are often... Teenagers... and the protagonists are... adults... and you get another tic.

The ages of the protagonists is more "What the creators find appealing" or "What the creators think will be appealing to others" then "What the creators think the ages of their audience or target audience is"

Go back to an old project I had been working on. Entire thing is in a terribly broken state, and I did not leave any notes to remind me of what the Hell it was I was planning to do.

In between the time since I last touched it and now, there has only been more things added that need to be changed.

Trying to create leather leads to dwarves turning the animal skin into an unknown plant material, and I just don't know how to respond to that.

Spent a few hours without power, and the first 15 or so minutes of that with torrential-level rain and wind. That's not the WTF part. The WTF is that somehow the wind was strong enough to blow water through the AC. I've never seen that happen.

I wonder if I should make a RPG where the main character is like a 70-80 year old man/woman...

There is a weird divide between JRPGs and CRPGs now... With JRPGs being about 14 year olds... and CRPGs being about 30 year olds.

Does anyone remember back when Seniors could be party members in RPGs? and not even like Vampires or immortals either.

On the side note... I've only really seen one RPG where a character's impossibly long age ever really felt tangible... Mostly because he was a total unrepentant ass completely destroyed by his experiences.

But I don't really blame fiction... if the games DID take place in the years they were legitimately young I am sure they would have been like "We should be fighting for women's right and a separation between church and state. Ohh hello Gypsy Moor give me a hug!" as is the case. (At least with Captain America they sometimes justify it by making stories of his experiences where he saw the humanity in the germans or where he fought with really awesome women)

Did you ever play The Immortal?  You play as an old geezer in that one.  It's an action/puzzle game and not an rpg though.
