One thing I find kind of weird is... well... LGBT have some things they are interested in, in general, that other people aren't (It is a subcultural thing). Yet the one thing you wouldn't think is attractive to them is Hypnosis.

For some reason they make up a large percentage of people interested in it.

I can only guess at the reasons for this.

Hypnosis is something I find interesting as a concept, in fact, I believe I am highly susceptible to it. (Or maybe was, at least, once upon a time.)

I am most assuredly hetero, however.
Well, the point is that liking hypnosis isn't something just LGBT find curious. Still, why do you know they make up a large percentage of it?

I've been part of the hypnosis community for a while now and after you get to know enough of the people there you see patterns.

I am a rather amateur hypnotist for a few years now.

Mind you don't get me wrong... Hetero males and females aren't rare (well... females yes but I think it is more because the hypnosis community scares them off more then anything else). Just that in spite LBGT being a 10th of the population, they are definitely more then a 10th of the hypnosis community.

I believe a lot of people in the LGBT community want to be able to hypnotize someone who is not compatible with them orientation-wise to like them, but obviously that would pose a massive ethical concern and would be as wrong as nonconsensual conversion therapy.

Yeah they are myths that are true in a way but ultimately false.

Mind you good luck! that officer would have to be pretty damn susceptible and you would have to be very good!

Without drugs, electricity, surgery, or any combination of the three, I don't think nonconsensual hypnosis is actually possible.

Well the whole "Hypnosis can't make you do what you don't want to do" is basically a myth created around the fact that you can't be forced to murder anyone under the influence of hypnosis.

Yet what hypnosis does is it lowers your inhibitions. So to say "Hypnosis can't make you do what you don't want to do" is a lot like saying alcohol can't make you do anything you don't want to do... and I think we all know that there are quite a few avenues that open up once you liquor someone up enough.

So the myth is kind of true, but essentially false.
