Logical from a "self" sense, rather than a species-level one.

... no, not really. Sex has pretty substantial physical, emotional, and social benefits to the individual, especially nowadays where the potential medical issues are largely controllable. Logically, even if you're not particularly emotionally inclined towards congress, regular sexual activity is almost certainly a highly desirable thing and more optimal than most other choices. Good for you, good for destressing, very difficult to surpass for creating and maintaining social bonds... we're really built for screwin', and abstaining largely has more issues than, well, not.

Doesn't even remotely mean that a person can't get by without it, but especially from a logical standpoint, it's something you want to be doing under most circumstances (taking the appropriate precautions et al, of course).

I don't know. The 'self' quite enjoys the sexual desire, so long as there's the option of it being fulfilled. Spice. Girls. But no Spice Girls.

Ok, what about the actual physical and mental benefits of the sexual act itself? Because they do exist. Hormones get all sorts of crazy tweaks that do strange (mostly good) things to mental health, physical health, and so forth, even if we discount the actual physical exercise portion of sex.

I guess it isn't that logical, I just see the benefits of being not interested in sex as greater than those of being interested. At least, the ones I'm aware of. It could change.

Everyone should wish they were asexual, it's the most logical choice.

I am a heterosexual male. That's part of who I am, and I have no particular wish to change that.

Ascetic just means you don't do it, generally through self-discipline.  Though I find things to complain about, I'm glad I'm comfortable being celibate.  If I desired sex as much as most people seem to, I'd probably be a pickup artist and a miserable person.

Asexual can also be translated as "not desiring of sex", when taken as a sexual orientation (as opposed to a biological method).

Wishing to be asexual (in this particular case) would sort of be like saying "I really with my body didn't find sugar to taste good, because then I wouldn't constantly have to restrain myself from eating sugar".

'Abstinent' means you don't do it, 'Ascetic' is a lifestyle where one tries to overcome their desires.

Basically. Although I don't have to constantly refrain myself from having sex despite all the people constantly begging me to have it with them. I'm currently mostly uninterested rather than totally uninterested. I'm curious about how taking that last step, if it were possible, would affect me.

I'm not ascetic (in a general sense), unfortunately. No willpower.
