I'm not sure about that. I'd say whether or not it's breakfast has some connotation tie-ins as well. I mean I'm a person who regularly skips breakfast, and I'd call the first meal I have (usually a sandwich, chips, and some other lunchy things) "lunch", not breakfast.

I guess technically, but that leads to confusion when interacting with normal people.  It's easier to just say I always skip breakfast.  Even though I'm always up at 9, I just don't get hungry till noonish.  I used to force myself to eat yogurt but then I rejected social norms haha.

I guess it depends if we want to define breakfast as "the first meal of the day" or "the morning meal", both of which show up in the dictionary.

And what if I ate snacks before having an actual meal? Would that mean that it's no longer breaking my fast and thus, is no longer breakfast? Honestly if we define it as the first meal there's been some days where my first meal is simultaneously both dinner and breakfast, since it's both the main meal of the day, eaten in the early evening, and the first meal of the day.

I'm with yoink, here. Breakfast is the first meal of the day, be it at 6 AM or 6 PM. Lunch is second meal. Dinner is third. Snacks in between are acceptable, but if it's not a proper meal it doesn't count.

Except the dictionary definition of "dinner" isn't "the third meal of the day", it's "the main meal of the day". Similarly "supper" is defined as "the evening meal of the day". So if your first, main meal was taken in the evening, you would simultaneously be eating breakfast, dinner, and supper all at once. (But not lunch, since it's dictionary definition is "the meal between breakfast and dinner", and in this case they would be the same meal.)
