Ugh. Football. There's so many football tards here in Moscow, I can't help but feel mildly resentful at the whole game. Hooliganism is barely even a thing in the U.S.; the worst you see is, I believe, about average for what you get with football in places where it's the thing. I attribute it to the fake football generating less enthusiasm in the U.S.

Apparently NZ officials have been ragging on the FIFA folks for being corrupt as shit. At least, that's what the news tells me.

I also heard that one of the FIFA folks thought an Onion article was real.

My bet is that they're not corrupt, just stupid.

A million Brazilians would be okay. See, our futbol tards usually fight only each other, because the Russian national futbol team can only be described as "meh", so there's not much to fight about with other nations. We have shitloads of clubs though, and their fans traditionally hate each other since the Soviet times. And they're mostly the same in skill, so who wins this or that is actually a point of contention, unlike international championships, where it's clear to everybody that we're going to play once against something that's not Zimbabwe, graciously lose 4-1 and bugger of for the rest of the tourney. At least that's the impression I'm getting.

It seems "transabled" is a thing. One where a person with a functional regular body doesn't feel okay with a specific working function. Like sight or having 2 working arms. The guy from the source prepared to and actually did cut one of his arms off.

EU nation states and South American nation states are threatening to create a new FIFA-like organization to run FOOTBAAAAAAAAAAAL world cups if the President of FIFA does not step down. The EU creating new FOOOTBAAAAAAAAL would give it immense power and do much to quell rising euroscepticism. It would also serve to integrate the European nation states closer together, as well as serve to integrate the South Americans and European nation states together. Control the football, control football crazy world.

... but yeah, the reason folks are raising a kerfluffle about the fifa thing is mostly because, y'know, millions upon millions of dollars worth of corruption. Actually caught for once! Iirc the low-end figure is around 150 million USD-equivalent monies acquired by doing illegal shit. It's kind of a notable chunk of dosh. That plus it being soccer and hey, news.
