I just watched the uncensored version of Caligula. I'll never be able to look at Malcolm Mcdowell the same way.

He's still a glorious actor though, and an awesome movie if you need something about Rome that doesn't consist of boring documentaries on christian era Rome.

There is "I Claudius" if you want to see something about Rome, it's a decent drama, although keep in mind it's also extrapolated fiction, people don't actually know what the people depicted were really like, or if Olivia was actually that much of a psychopath. But it's decently plausible on most counts.

Also Rome (the tv series), Spartacus, arguably Gladiator (though IMO sucked).

Also, while it falls on the "christian movie based on ancient rome" category, Quo Vadis is a very good film. One of my favorite films, actually. I just do my best to ignore the jesus bits and enjoy Peter Ustinov's performance.
