I almost always made wine, so I'm not sure if this is a stupid question or not, but why not age it in the big container?

For one thing, you have to change containers to get rid of the yeast sediment and other nasty by-products. For another, most recipies are geared toward 5 gallons at a time. I don't drink enough to dispose of that much in a timely fasion. Besides, which, I need the big container for the next batch.

Well, bird bones are hollow, so any real stress on them will break them, then you have the sharp bone fragments shredding tissue, then you have the physical trauma of it hitting the windshield, so not really surprising. To me at least.

Do you drink beer quickly enough to through, say, a wine bottle of it at a go? I'm not sure how pricy beer bottles are, but wine bottles aren't too bad by volume (more'n I'd like to pay, at about $1.20 apiece, but they're 750 mL at least). You could cork your beer!

There's probably a reason people don't do that.

Common misconception. Despite being hollow, bird bones are bloody strong compared to our bones. The reason they break easily is because they're so thin.
