It occurs to me: how do you stop a pokemon from evolving?  I always imagined you slapped it or poked at it :|

You pull a big button, as in the kind people get to advertise votes, with the letter "B" on it, and pin it to the Pokémon.

Scariest thing about Pokemon, aside from the flagrant animal abuse, was Haunter eating the souls of every pokemon, and further fortifying in my head the idea that Pokemon couldn't hurt human, or may not even exist on the same plane as them.  And then blew up.  Fucking A on the paper, he blew up, and I was mad that the ones in the game didnt permanently die.  I had even build a team based on blowing themselves up and suicide in general.  Double-edge, explosion, etc.

I can understand crowdsourced developers being stupid in that regards but there is a difference with being stupid with a multibillion dollar company that you'll be relying on for your money. Like it or not, they have all the power over you.

That's actually written into most building codes, for the specific reason that they're easy to break down in an emergency such as a fire. If the door is stuck (far from rare in a damaged building), having a fireman or resident being readily able to smash it down without resorting to an axe (which most non-firemen would have no reason to have on hand) saves lives.
